New Zealand Railways Staff Welfare Trust
Holiday Homes
The Trust owns holiday homes throughout NZ which members are able to use under a "shared bach scheme". This means members only pay a small amount to use the homes (to cover operating expenses), members are trusted to respect the homes, treating them as their own.
Membership Benefits
The Trust offers reimbursement of medical expenses for members and their families, access to a shared holiday home scheme, and group discounts on optional extra health insurance.
Membership Application Form Membership of the NZR Staff Welfare Trust is available to the following groups:
Group A
For qualifying employees of various employers working within the rail industry.
- Payments under the Benefit Schedule
- Extended Health Plan (optional)
- Group Life Plan (optional)
- Holiday Accommodation
$ 9 per week (from 1 July 2024)
Group B
For former Group A members who are no longer working in the rail industry and meet the membership criteria (i.e. they were Group A members for at least 5 years).
- Holiday Accommodation
$ 55 per annum
($20 discount for Gold Card holders)
Group C
For members of the Rail & Maritime Transport Union who are not employed within the rail industry.
- Holiday Accommodation
$ 55 per annum
($20 discount for Gold Card holders)
